Sapulpa Community Theatre Web Page P.O. Box 827, Sapulpa, Oklahoma 74067 124 S. Water (918) 227-2169 Sapulpa Community Theatre is a non-profit organization that provides first-class entertainment for local audiences and a creative working experience for local actors, directors, and craftspeople. Ask us about Season Tickets! Sapulpa Community Theatre, Inc. had its humble beginnings back in 1978 when a small group of actors, led by John B. Clark and Wanda Lovelace, banded together as the Sapulpa Community Players. The principal goal was to produce shows as a fund-raising vehicle for local charities. Productions were staged on an ad hoc basis whenever and wherever a location, cast, and crew could be assembled. It was in the latter part of 1988 when it was decided to incorporate into what is now known as Sapulpa Community Theatre, Inc. Having high hopes - but only $500 in cash - the new corporation set its sights on the old Church of Christ, Scientist building at 124 S. Water. In June 1989, a group of six people who shared the dream backed a note to purchase the building for $27,000. Work to create the theater building you see today then began. Due to the overwhelming support of the community, businesses, and foundation grants, renovations have been made which total more than $20,000. In August 1991, the final payment on the original building note was made. Since then, a storage facility for props, costumes, and stage pieces has been built, and maintenance continues to preserve the historic theater building. We at Sapulpa Community Theatre feel that we have created a community asset in which all of Sapulpa can take great pride and we invite you to be part of the continuing dream. It is only through volunteers and the financial support of the community that the dream remains alive. Consider becoming a part of one of Sapulpa's most valuable civic assets - Sapulpa Community Theatre! We look forward to having you join our family and to serving the community for many years to come. See you at the theater! |
