Owasso Community Theatre Company, created in the summer of 2003 by a group of theatre enthusiasts, provides a local community theatre venue without the need to drive into Tulsa for every opportunity. After the initial meeting, two committees were developed to write bylaws and handle the financial details of maintaining a community theatre group. Once finances were in order and bylaws finished, a membership meeting was held to elect board members in August 2003. Soon after the board became active, monthly meetings began to get OCT organized and on the way to incorporation. In addition, OCT applied for not-for-profit status. OCT chose William Inge’s Picnic as its premiere production held in September 2003. The show ran for three consecutive nights and was well received by the community. Many of the cast and crew members also comprised the core group working so hard to get OCT transformed from a dream into a reality. |
