BACP PRESENTS “Same Time Next Year”
The Broken Arrow Community Playhouse is proud to present “Same Time Next Year” by Bernard Slade and directed by Theresa Orwig, this is the first production of BACP’s 29th Season “Giggles Galore.” The combined talents of Kelley Childers-Friedberg and Mark Leach bring the characters of George and Doris to life on our stage as they take you through 25 years of love, laughter and social changes.
“Same Time Next Year,” is one of the most popular romantic comedies of the last century. It tells the story of George and Doris, both happily married to other people, who meet by chance at a seaside inn and impulsively spend the night together. The one-night stand becomes a yearly rendezvous as George and Doris continue to meet the same weekend every year over the 25 years the play spans. The social changes of this period, as the conservative 50’s give way to the tumultuous 60’s, are reflected by George and Doris. As time goes on, each has some personal crisis that the other helps them through, often without them understanding what is going on. “Same Time Next Year” ran four years on Broadway, winning a Tony Award for lead actress Ellen Burstyn, who later recreated her role in the successful motion picture. It remains one of the world’s most widely produced plays.
Performances dates are September 5, 6, 11, 13 and 13 at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinee September 14 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors, $9 for students, and $6 for children 12 and younger. For more information check out our website at www.bacptheatre.com
